Hartford Financial Services Group Fined $20 Million In Annuity Fraud Probe

Connecticut and New York officials found that Hartford secretly paid brokers over $4 million to steer pension funds to the company's annuity products. These were major deals and may not have been in the clients' best interests.

Hartford has acknowledged misconduct, but, as part of the settlement, neither admitted nor denied guilt.
